Breakfast Series: Orphans Kitchen X Saan Friday, August 11
We invite you to spend a winter’s morning enjoying vibrant Thai and Vietnamese flavours at our upcoming breakfast collaboration with Saan restaurant.
Joining us for the wake up on Friday 11 August is Wichian Trirattanavatin, aka Chef Lek, who previously worked at Cafe Hanoi before leaving to help open Saan on Ponsonby Road in 2015.
Lek was born and raised in north-eastern Thailand. At a young age, his grandmother taught him to cook their traditional cuisine.
Through his work within New Zealand’s tight knit restaurant community, Lek is sharing authentic Lanna and Isaan flavours. He loves putting a Thai spin on local ingredients.
For the breakfast event, Lek will collaborate with Orphans Kitchen’s Vietnamese Sous Chef Tan Nyugen, who has been an invaluable member of the crew since we opened four years ago.
If you haven’t attended one of the breakfast events before, this is a ticketed 2-course meal with paired coffee and juice.
Tickets cost $45pp and 10% of proceeds will be donated to Lifewise, Saan’s charity of choice.
“We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have enough food to eat, as well as warm, dry homes to live in and are thinking of those who are not so lucky.” – Saan team
